Abstract

You only get one change to make a first impression, so what impression do you want your students to have of you and your course from your first day of class? In this session, we will focus on four core principles that can help shape your planning for the first day of your course, logistics of a successful first day, including managing the space and technology as well as getting to know your students, suggestions for putting the principles and the logistics into practice and suggestions for how to support the good work you have done on the first day into the rest of the semester.
